[ they are heading somewhere; Kahlan, Cara and Richard ]
Kahlan: Once we get there, how do we get Zedd to drink the potion?
Shota: You won't be able to get near him
[ Shota has appeared ]
Kahlan: Shota.
Shota: He think you're his enemies. He'll obliterate you.
Richard: What you did to him . . . Why? We have to stop him before he hurts somebody or himself.
Shota: Oooh, just because you have some flowers and the root of a Shadrin's horn doesn't mean you can reverse my spell. What I've done, only I can undo.
Richard: Then undo it!
Shota: Oh. I will. After he has named a new Seeker.
Kahlan: What?
Shota: [ glances at them before laughing ] Oh, he hasn't told you about the prophecy.
Richard: What prophecy?
Shota: About a month ago, I told him it was written in the halls of prophecy that Richard Cypher would fail in his quest to defeat the Keeper.
Kahlan: Fail how? What do you mean?
Richard: I don't care about prophecy. And I don't have time for your riddles and tricks!
[ He goes forward, but Kahlan stops him with her hand ]
Shota: None of my prophecies have ever proven false. I begged Zedd to name a new Seeker but he was too . . . blind to his sentimental attachment to his grandson. I thought if I stripped him of his memories, I could convince him to do what had to be done.
Kahlan: Richard is the Seeker.
Shota: Of course you'd say that about the man you love. But I didn't come here expecting your help. I came hoping for yours.
[ she walks towards Cara ]
Cara: Why would I help you?
Shota: Because you don't care who bears the name of Seeker. You only care about protecting Richard Rahl. But if he continues on this doomed quest, the Keeper will win and he will die along with everyone else in the world. Now. Zedd can't use his magic against you. If you subdue him, then I can force him to do what must be done.
Cara: [ nods with a smirk ] Funny how people always curse the Mord'Sith until they need one.
Shota: Do you want Richard to live? Or don't you?
Cara: You're right. Wizards can't use their magic against a Mord'Sith. And neither can witches.
[ she draws her agiel and jabs it in Shota's stomach. Shota starts screaming. She drops to her knees, but Cara forces her head up by pulling on Shota's hair]
Cara: There's only one way to stop that from happening. Undo the spell you put on Zedd.
Impressions:
- They're on a quest of some kind, but they lost a party member.
- Mord'Siths can repel magic.
- This made her feel a little better about herself because even though it's torture it's . . . kind of for a good cause \o/
- Must protect Richard.
